MANKS POND IN CECIL COUNTY, MARYLAND

Native Americans were the earliest inhabitants of what is now called Cecil County. The first to visit the area arrived by ship in 1608, led by Captain John Smith. Through his fascinating accounts, we’ve learned how native Americans lived remarkable and resilent lives along the shores of Cecil’s rivers.
The land known as Manks Pond first appears on a map of Cecil County in 1877. The 78 acres of rich, beautiful, rolling hills were homesteaded and farmed by several families over 100 years. The Manks family owned it the longest for 46 years. Then in 1999, 3rd generation Cecil County family builder purchased Manks Pond with the vison to create 34 affordable homes off the Elk River.
